CRANDON, WI — When it’s Crandon, you already know something wild is about to go down. The Big House never disappoints, especially when the Stock Trucks roll out and the fans pack the hillsides. Even with a bit of leftover moisture from the night before, the Crandon track crew had things dialed. What started as a potential mud-fest quickly turned into a classic showcase of speed, patience, and off-road smarts.

Tyler Hoffman wins the hole shot of Crandon's famous land rush start.

Hoffman Takes Charge on Crandon’s Land Rush Start

The front row was loaded with talent, and Tyler Hoffman wasted no time proving he deserved the pole. When the green flag dropped, he blasted toward turn one and took the holeshot like he had rockets strapped to the back of his Chevy. Right behind him was Weston Juul, with Kirk Graff and Robbie Deede also launching strong off the line.

Deede, piloting the only RAM truck in the field, looked hungry to get into the mix. But within just a lap, a fast-rising name inserted himself into the conversation—Colt Wierzba. After turning heads with the fastest lap in Friday’s practice session, Colt started slicing through the field like he had a point to prove.

And let’s not forget—Colt was pulling double duty, racing both Stock and Super Stock Truck. His Stock Truck ride, usually driven by his sister Katelin, was ready to make a statement in Crandon.

Colt Wierzba sliced and dice his way to the lead.

Wierzba’s Calamity Corner Comeback

Once Wierzba caught Weston Juul, he made a slick move through Calamity Corner to grab second place. The way he handled that section of the course looked like something out of a highlight reel. Meanwhile, Tyler Hoffman continued to hold strong in first, but it was clear Colt was coming.

Within another lap, Wierzba made his move—again in Calamity Corner—and took over the top spot from Hoffman. From there, it wasn’t long before he started building a lead. At the halfway mark, it was Wierzba leading the pack, followed by Hoffman, Graff, and Peot.

Kyle Jenshak and Robbie Deede get tangled up in the Cowboy Cut-off turn.

The second half of the race saw less passing but more tension. Wierzba looked dialed in, running consistent lap after lap, while the others were just trying to keep pace. TJ Ewert unfortunately had to pull off due to mechanical issues, and a scuffle between Kyle Jenshak and Robbie Deede in the Cowboy Cut-Off Turn gave Sean Soseman a chance to sneak into sixth.

Crandon brings out the best of everyone.

Gears, Battles, and Bumper Chases

While the top two drivers were pretty locked in, the fight for third place was one of the most technical and exciting storylines of the race. Graff had more speed on the straights, but Peot gained time in the tight, twisty sections. The broadcast team even talked about gear ratios, noting that Graff was likely running a higher setup for straight-line speed, while Peot’s setup gave him more grunt in the corners.

Peot kept pressing, getting right up to Graff’s bumper in the infield, but just couldn’t make a pass stick. For fans watching the live stream or trackside in Crandon, it was a battle worth watching every lap.

Even as the top four settled into a rhythm, nobody dared count out the unpredictable nature of off-road racing. And sure enough, just when it seemed locked up…

Colt Wierzba had a minor scare prior to his win.

White Smoke and a Spring Crandon W for Wierzba

With one lap to go, things got spicy again. Wierzba’s Chevy started puffing white smoke from the radiator, and fans held their breath. Would his truck hold together long enough to finish? You could hear a pin drop in the crowd as the leader came around Calamity Corner one last time.

Luckily for Colt, the overheating started to ease off, and the smoke faded. His gamble paid off—the Wierzba Insulation Chevy crossed the finish line first, securing a massive win in front of a roaring Crandon crowd.

And what did they say after the race?

It rained overnight at Crandon. The track crew thrashed to get the track ready for action.

When asked about managing slick conditions, Graff summed it up perfectly:

“The race line was about one and a half trucks wide. Really had to shoot down to the bottom and keep your momentum up!” — Kirk Graff
