CRANDON, WI — There’s something about Crandon, Wisconsin that brings out the best—and the wildest—in off-road racing. The Big House was on fire Sunday, both literally and figuratively, as temps soared and tensions flared in one of the most chaotic and unforgettable Stock Truck races of the season. If you like dramatic finishes, wild passes, and a little contact to keep things spicy, this one had it all.

Dustin Rogaczewski wins the Crandon Land Rush Holeshot!

The Holeshot Hustle and Early Mayhem at Crandon

Right from the drop of the green flag, Dustin Rogaczewski showed he meant business, charging into turn one to take the holeshot. Right on his tail, Robbie Deede had another rocket start, with Tyler Hoffman and Kirk Graff keeping the pressure close behind.

But then things got messy. As Deede slid wide through Calamity Corner, Hoffman went full enforcer mode. In a move that looked more like NHL than off-road racing, Hoffman walled Deede into a dirt mound just past the flag stand. Deede was stuck and furious. Hoffman got away—temporarily—before the black flag came flying his way.

After another strong start at Crandon, Deede ended with another DNF.

All the while, Graff and Jenshak quietly snuck through the carnage to grab positions. And then came Malakai Yakel, charging hard from mid-pack and catching Jenshak on the front stretch. He executed a smooth outside-in move in the gravel pit and never looked back. Yakel had come to play, and he wasn’t waiting around.

Yakel’s Rise and Rogaczewski’s Response

Yakel continued putting the gravel pit to good use, reeling in Graff just a lap later. Thanks to a local yellow for Deede’s stranded RAM, the field bunched up again. When the green came back out, Yakel had the momentum—and he used it. With a burst of horsepower and pure will, Yakel rocketed past Graff and slotted into second behind Rogaczewski.

At the halfway point, the running order was Rogaczewski, Yakel, and Graff—but the fun was far from over.

On the restart, the front two tore away from the field like it was a drag race, while Brian Peot turned on the jets and started making moves. He passed Graff but was too far back to immediately challenge the leaders. Still, Peot smelled opportunity—and we all know how quickly things can turn at Crandon.

Once Yakel caught Rogaczewski it was all wrapped up. Or was it?

Up front, Yakel saw his chance in the Cowboy Cut-Off. As Rogaczewski pushed wide, Yakel powered past him cleanly and claimed the lead. And once in clean air, the #513 Chevy took off like a rocket. He looked unstoppable.

Crandon’s Battles and Bedside Bumps

The duel between Peot and Graff continued into Round 6, with Peot once again getting the upper hand. Now in third, Peot had one thing on his mind—chasing down the front-runners. Graff fell off the pace, but the drama up front was only just beginning.

Spilled over from round 5, Peot and Graff found each other again on the track.

Rogaczewski wasn’t done. On the final lap, he reeled in Yakel through Calamity Corner, setting up a last-chance push in the gravel pit. While Yakel kept things fast and clean, Rogaczewski played it like a chess match—lining up an outside-in move that took them both to the edge of their limits.

And then it happened. In a move that sent gasps through the crowd, the 512 Ford got into the inside bedside of Yakel in the final corner. Yakel spun out—just feet from the checkered flag. Facing the wrong way, he had to throw it in reverse and scramble to cross the line. Absolute madness!

Penalties, Plot Twists, and Peot’s Surprise Crandon Win

But in off-road, it’s never over until the officials weigh in. With Hoffman and Sean Soseman both already flagged for aggressive driving earlier in the race, the stewards were watching closely. Rogaczewski’s final-corner contact was too much, and he was docked three positions post-race for rough driving.

That reshuffled the order—and handed Brian Peot the surprise win! Yakel held onto second despite the spin, and Graff’s consistency kept him on the podium in third. For Peot, the win was as unexpected as it was earned.

“Yeah, a little chaos out there!” said Peot, laughing in disbelief. “I didn’t catch what happened at the end. Then I’m like—oh, I don’t think Malakai is past the flag stand yet! So I was like [grunting noises and trying to steer the truck].”
